Add subtitles to DivX files!!!
AVIAddXSubs is a simple to use, free program to subtitle videos converting the original srt files you may have. Its services are useful in cases your hardware player is not able to show the subtitles directly from srt or even if it does the result is not satisfactory. Using AVIAddXSubs and converting the srt you have a variety of options to configure the subtitles as regards font, font size, color, outline, position, etc. This effect is achieved through a srt conversion to another format where the subtitles are stored as bitmaps already prepared in your PC.
This conversion process, takes a few minutes (or a few seconds in many cases) and it doesnt re-encode the video so its quality remains exactly the same. The generated subtitles are "soft", not burned in the picture, so the user is able to activate/deactivate through his/her players remote control the same way it does at normal DVD playback.

SubFix
SubFix allows you to synchronise easily ".srt" subtitle files with the audio track of the corresponding movie. You don't need to fiddle with video frame-rates, delays, etc. all this on a beautiful cocoa interface !
Synchronisation delays can be constant over time, for this, you just need to adjust the delay once, you can do this in VLC media player for example, by pressing the "h" or "j" keys. But if you feel the need to use these keys often, it means that the delay grows with time, SubFix is the answer for these problems ! All you have to do is indicate the precise timing of two separate subtitles, Subfix will interpolate for all the other subtitles in the file.

SubtitleCreator
SubtitleCreator allows you to create new subtitles for your DVD's. It has a Wizard interface, advanced synchronization features, DVD preview, and a simple WYSIWYG editor.
With just a few clicks, you can have your own unique DVD. Although simple to use, it is rich in functionality, and is currently the only freeware and open source program that supports reading HD subtitles.
The latest version even has support for Karaoke.

SubMagic is a tool to convert, edit, translate, synchonize or create movie subtitles. It supports several subtitle formats, has a lot of features and functions, is easy to operate and best of all... its free! SubMagic is written in C++ using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and doesnt need a .NET framework or any other external libraries. DirectX 9.0c is needed for video playback. SubMagic is available in English and (partly translated) in Dutch.

FurySync
FurySync is kind of an improvement of the SubSync program, as it has the same basic idea: synchronize the beginning of a subtitle by doing some action when you hear the line in the video, and the end by doing another action. Those actions, in FurySync, are pressing F2 ans releasing it, or clicking on a "Appear" or "Disappear" button. But many other functions have been added to ease the synchronization or the creation of a subtitle. On top of that, the program, written in Delphi as Fury Language, is open-source (BSD License).

Preparing subtitles and captions for video used to be a long and cumbersome process, but with titlebee the task has been made simpler and quicker by letting the subtitler focus on adding subtitles visually onto a timeline.
Now subtitlers and caption editors could truly match their subtitles to the images and replay difficult passages as often as they like and as fast or slow as needed in order to find the optimum result. Subtitlers can display multiple tracks side-by-side for easier translation, revision and proofreading. The final subtitles are electronically embedded into the video either as soft subs (allowing them to be switched on and off) or hard subs (printed on the image permanently).
